This was my family’s favorite restaurant when we were there from 2001-07. I had a privilege to revisit again in 2019, the place had renovations and is now run by Sami, son of George the previous owner. Food is still amazing and still run with that familiar friendly atmosphere as if you are being at friend’s home. We had a lovely chat about George and old times. I went back again next day for lunch. Highly recommend if you are in Haifa, avoid the touristy Ben Gurion and head down for tasty lunch!

I left the fancy restaurants on Ben Gurion Boulevard and walked one long block to Nabila's Restaurant, formerly called Umm Nabila, which means Mom Nabila in Arabic. Here you can find good home-cooked Arab food at a reasonable price. There is a glassed in case displaying the pre-cooked courses of the day, which vary from day to day. I chose chicken stuffed with vegetables, maqluba (upside down, in Arabic), which was a tasty side dish containing rice and eggplant, and a vegetable dish containing cauliflower. I chose vegetable salad, dressed with olive oil, lemon, and salt. I was also served very good tehina, and pickled turnip and baby eggplants. At the end I was brought complimentary sweetened Arab coffee. The meal was tasty and more than ample. The bill was 60 NIS, which was very reasonable. You can eat at the restaurant, but a number of people came in for takeout. I had the impression that there are many regular customers, probably people who work nearby. But it's worth coming from a distance, especially if you're already in the nearby touristy German Colony at lunch time. I have the impression that they remodelled since I last ate here a few years ago. In any case, the decor now is very nice.

Great home made food. Very fresh, great variety and excellent taste. A bit pricy, but I'd say it is worth it
