Hi. I've been training at Timura BJJ for 2 years already. At first I thought taking BJJ up would simply mean dislocating my shoulders and damaging my lesser knee permanently. A good friend who has been training at Timur's at that time had convinced me to try, and that first session was all it took to get me hooked up. Up to that moment, the closest I've come to BJJ was an introductory sessions in another academy, which was fun and challenging, but not quite the place that personally fit me from a social viewpoint. As I persisted further in training, I got to meet a great bunch of people from all walks of life, at different levels. We all gather to role, laugh at each other's dirty jokes or at each other altogether, and simply have fun. Yes, there are bad days; yes, there are occasions when I just want to quite because I feel like I simply suck and that I'll never be able to nail that one technique Timur had taught just the night before, but what keeps me going aside from some grit and slight masochism - is the company I'm in. I have never felt belittled by Timur, or by any other student at the academy. Timur goes out of his way to provide us with a relevant and high-quality curriculum and makes the best out of the session, and he does that meticulously even if it means training with an injured toe or back pain. In addition, along with the awesome local crew, I've had the pleasure of rolling with BJJ practitioners from Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, the US, France, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. There's just something in the energy of this place that makes cool people gravitate towards it. Finally, on a personal level - I believe that interacting with BJJ through Timur and the students at the academy has a great deal in shaping me into a better person than I'd perceived myself 2 years ago. So, now that you're done reading - turn off your screens, pack your duffle bag and COME TRAIN!
