The Zoo has been recognized internationally for its work in the field of wildlife conservation – particularly several successful breeding and reintroduction programs. Environmental sustainability is central to the Zoo’s philosophy and public awareness is reinforced when visitors observe the Zoo’s many and varied green practices. The Zoo’s most important role is to educate visitors and raise awareness about wildlife conservation and sustainability issues which it does through both direct and indirect means. More than 100,000 young people attend various educational programs at the Zoo each year including field trips, after school programs, summer camps, teen youth groups, gifted students programs, high school matriculation programs and many workshops and seminars. The Biblical Zoo receives no governmental or municipal subsidies.
