Hydroponics saves land and water and its rapid growth cycles enable students to enjoy hands-on multi-disciplinary learning. Our curricula includes science, nutrition, and entrepreneurship. To document their efforts and stimulate their creativity, StartUpRoots also provides a photojournalism curriculum. Our impact has been transformational. Students come home with fresh produce their parents may not even be familiar with; they understand the importance of healthy pesticide-free vegetables and the dangers of highly processed foods, particularly those loaded with sugar; and they learn that they can be better consumers and ultimately make a change in the marketplace.
