This government office, (Machon Hatkanim) should not exist or at least be limited in its role. Israel should adopt European standards for mot things that would make import and competition easier in this country and lower the cost of living for ALL its citizens. Instead the Machon Hatkanim is the tool used by monopolies to keep their monopolies by implementing norms on products that have a monopoly so no one else can import them keeping therefore the prices in the country as high as possible. The Machon Hatkanim is a corrupt institution that should be reformed to the benefit of the entire country.
