The United States–Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF) was established in 1956 by the Governments of the United States and Israel to administer the Fulbright Program in Israel. The Foundation aims to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Israel by means of student and faculty exchanges at the highest possible level of academic excellence. Fulbright Israel Fellowships for Israelis afford rising academics and professionals the opportunity to hone their skills and broaden their world views through study and research at prominent American universities and research institutes. Fulbright Israel Fellowships for Americans provide U.S. citizens with first-hand experience of the complexities of life in Israel beyond the news headlines, while simultaneously enabling them to realize their academic and research goals through association with Israel’s world-class institutions of higher education. In the years since USIEF’s establishment over 1,300 US citizens and over 1,600 Israelis have taken part in a variety of Fulbright exchanges.
