Our Mission Is to help talented young adults from low income, disadvantaged and minority backgrounds, who for a variety of reasons cannot or will not get a university degree, enter the programming profession quickly, while making it easy for them to continue their academic education later on. Our Training Model A new and innovative 8 months training that combines academic core classes in CS (which carry academic credit) and an industry - demand driven bootcamp, coupled with 21st century skills (“soft skills”, English, self-empowerment, et cetera). Who is it for: Our program is designed for young adults (+/- 25-30) who don’t have academic and/or socio economic background to enter a CS or any other technological bachelor’s program. What will the graduates get: 1. The most in-demand profession in the world – computer programming 2. A significant support in finding a job – to establish economic stability for the next stage: 3. Be granted a special admission track to CS bachelors at the IDC, opening the possibility for higher education and avoiding the creation of a new "blue collar glass ceiling" Our Business Model We are a not-for-profit program. We have a plan to make the program self-sustaining and even profitable at scale. The program does not require upfront tuition from the students. We have a placement mechanism, allowing us to return part of the investment during the pilot stage and at scale, we're expecting to return and indeed exceed all of the investment. Founders Prof. Yoav Shoham is Professor (emeritus) of Computer Science at Stanford University, a serial entrepreneur, and Principal Scientist at Google. Prof. Shimon Schocken is the founding dean of the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science at IDC Herzliya, was a tenured professor at NYU, a visiting professor at Harvard and Stanford, and chairman of the Israeli ministry of education. Noga Vaknin is the managing director of WeCode.
