too bad I cant rate it any lower horrible service its as if they are doing you a favor by collecting taxes. also involved in denying legal requests for reductions in tax rates in multiple cases of students in my school. I guess I don't count because I'm not a citizen...... welcome to the extortion land of red tape

Note: I'm not talking about municipality as organization but as a tourist sight. Living more than 20 years in Jerusalem, last week it was my first time to go to a tour there. This is a tour of the historical municipal buildings, among which is the old municipal building from the time of the British Mandate; the city council hall and the model of old/new Jerusalem and an observation point offering a breathtaking view of Jerusalem's neighborhoods. View is indeed something to die for, I was totally in awe. Unfortunately the model was closed for reconstruction that day. But hopefully you'll be more lucky. Cost: 10 NIS per visitor; minimal cost is 150 NIS per group. Groups by appointment in several languages. Duration: 90 minutes Tip: Jerusalem Municipality Hall has free Wi-Fi and very good, cheap coffee. ;)

I'll give my thoughts here on this facility specifically and then on the iriyah (Jerusalem Municipality) itself. Like most local government offices, visiting Kikar Safra tends to be a time consuming affair. I would advise trying to avoid wherever possible, although this is not always an option given that the Municipality's digitization strategy is incomplete and many forms and procedures can still only be completed in person. Also, review the opening hours carefully before visiting in person. Different departments have different — and often very restricted — public hours. As for my experience with the iriyah as an institution (separate to that of the Office of the Mayor of Jerusalem, where I interned during my first year of aliyah under Mayor Nir Barkat): I echo the sentiment that the Iriyah seems to not care that much about the plight of the ordinary citizen. I once lived in Nahlaot and had the misfortune of living within mere meters of a construction project, which went on for over a year. Towards the end of my time there, it operated literally 24/6. Noise and vibrations could be felt from within my apartment and several times the street was completed blocked to traffic. No query or complaint was ever addressed, to the point that I simply gave up trying. At one point, there was a JCB digger obstructing the entrance to my now wife's apartment who lived directly across the road and the entrance stayed in the uninhabitable condition these photos show for literally two months. Numerous complaints and queries went completely unheeded —and I eventually had to use the State Ombudsman just to get them to answer a query. So overall, color me unimpressed.

Not your typical city hall. This municipality holds open events in determined national and religious festive days. So you can go there and pay taxes as well watch a movie or attend an independence day concert.

I don't have no words to describe how beautiful Jerusalem is

Today the municipality is hosting a carnival. It is joyous and exciting. The event is drawing young and old, students and visitors, ambulatory and wheelchair bound. The bright sunshine is adding to the joy. My business dealings here, obtaining a Yerushalaim card and paying my arnona have been easy and I have nothing but praise for the staff.

The Municipality of Jerusalem is a municipality of the city of Jerusalem, located in the Jerusalem District. The municipal authorities are housed in the offices of the Mayor of Jerusalem, a complex of buildings. It was created in the 1990s around Safra Square in the Daniel Garden. It brings together all the activities of the Municipality that were previously located in 32 different buildings scattered throughout the city. The site of the city municipal offices was chosen in the mid-1980s because it was the center of the city between east and west, near the Old City and the historic main street of the city, Jaffa Street. As this site is at the historic center of the city, various measures were taken so as to create buildings that met the practical needs of the town hall without damaging the architectural and historical character of the neighborhood. These considerations led to the preservation of various historical buildings that were renovated, and the construction of two modern buildings at three sites, primarily in Safra Square.
