Great cinema, features quality films and a good variety of foreign films. Every once in a while it hosts a film festival and other events. Has a cafeteria inside and bathroom that is usually pretty clean.

My exhibit was censured. My name removed. My property harmed. It's a shame the city of Tel Aviv behaves like this. The exhibit was about the systematic use of contact centers (מרכזי קשר) by the state of Israel. It illustrated the horror that the thousands of children have to go through each year after vein systematically cut off their fathers in the state off Israel and particularly in Tel Aviv. As a form of engaged art the exhibition was censored since the city of tel aviv provides funding for the cinémathèque and also runs a contact center where about a thousand children are forced to see their dad in a cage. That cage is next to gan meir and the gay center. It has an armed guard and wire on shuttered windows. Video cameras and separate entrances for the women who bring the children and the men who go see them in the cage.

Fave place in TLV to watch a quality movie. Used to have a subscription and visit the occasional lecture as well. There are a number of nice restaurants and bars nearby, which makes for a nice night out

I’m definitely not such a fan of the place. Feels very old and somewhat dilapidated. They sometimes have fantastic films showing here, but when you actually are there it sort of kills the whole vibe with the overpricing and the lack of awareness to the service they are supposed to provide. I only didn’t score it 2 stars because I love film, and this place is important in that regards as a place to show films.

I visited the cinema after few years of absence and was a bit disappointed to learn that they start screening about 10 minutes after the designated time, forcing the ones who arrived on time to watch trailers. In the past, the cinemathequ was the only place to keep screening times in Tel Aviv. Other than that, the place is perfect. The seats are comfortable, the air condition is not freezing (but still cold, though!), the sound is excellent and the overall experience is great.

Great art house film and oldies. Best projections in the city.
